Chase Briscoe wins second straight Southern 500 in dominating fashion

-Chase Briscoe was perfection in a world of mistakes, a no-funny-business driver in a comedy of errors.

 And at the end of the final green-flag run on Sunday night at Darlington Raceway—after a 20-lap stint of unrelenting tension—Briscoe was a back-to-back winner of the Cook Out Southern 500 and a guaranteed participant in the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

 Briscoe led 309 of 367 laps and swept the first two stages, but he had to hold off a determined charge by Tyler Reddick after the race restarted on Lap 320. Reddick got close in the final 10 laps, driving beneath Briscoe entering Turn 3, but didn’t have the impetus necessary to complete a winning pass.


 Newgarden Salvages Season With Home Victory at Thrilling Nashville 

Sweet relief finally arrived at home, sweet home after the most frustrating of seasons for Josef Newgarden.

International Raceway, where the 19-year old claimed his series-best eighth NASCAR Xfinity Series win of the season – the best series victory total ever for a rookie driver.

 

Only weeks removed from breaking his collarbone celebrating another win – at the Watkins Glen, N.Y. road course – Zilisch claimed pole position, won both stages, set fastest lap and celebrated it all in Victory Circle of the famed 1.967-mile road course in the scenic Pacific Northwest.


 

Canadian Drivers James Beaton and Roberto Sabato Claim Wins in XGT and Pro/Am Challenge

Saturday August 30th...The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli returned to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) and was once again met with exciting battles and results affecting championship hunts. In the TA class, defending champion Paul Menard scored his second-consecutive win at the Bowmanville, Ontario track, while rookie Tristan McKee tallied his third CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series victory in four races. Toronto-born Roberto Sabato found vindication at his home track, winning in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Pro/Am Challenge after an early crash took him out of contention last season. Finally, Ontario native James Beaton earned the win in the XGT class with his second-consecutive victory in the class.


 

Saturday August 30th...Ricky Thornton Jr. led wire-to-wire, winning the 57th Annual Summit Racing Equipment Hillbilly Hundred presented by Arizona Sport Shirts on Saturday night at Lernerville Speedway. Thornton’s 13th Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of the season was worth $30,000 and marked his first victory in dirt late model racing’s oldest, ongoing race that began in 1967.

Corey Heim opens NASCAR Truck Playoffs with eighth win of season

Saturday August 30th...Even though the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series changed the clock from the regular season to the Playoffs, it was still “Heim Time” on Saturday at Darlington Raceway.

 Pulling away after a restart on Lap 134 of 147, Heim won the Playoff-opening Sober or Slammer 200 at the challenging 1.366-mile track. The win was Heim’s eighth of the year, one short of Greg Biffle’s record nine-victory season in 1999.

Cooper Shipman Continues Win Streak, Taking Race 2 at CTMP

Saturday August 30th... Cooper Shipman extended his Formula 4 United States Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (F4 U.S.) win streak, taking the victory in Race 2 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on Saturday afternoon. In one of the most action-packed races this season, the top four engaged in tight racing and close battles all afternoon, with Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) having to overcome the charges of his championship rivals to eventually emerge with the victory. 


Titus Sherlock Gets Back-To-Back Wins at CTMP

Saturday August 30th... For the second time this weekend, Titus Sherlock won in Formula Regional Americas Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (FR Americas) competition at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). Marking his sixth win of the 2025 season, and 10th of his career, Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) overtook the lead on the opening lap and never looked back. 


Cooper Shipman Extends Win Streak to Five, Wins Race 1 at CTMP

Saturday August 30th...Cooper Shipman won the opening Formula 4 United States Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (F4 U.S.) race of the Labour Day Weekend Sprints at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Saturday morning to extend his win streak to five. After sweeping the last two events, Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) has momentum on his side as he races toward the 2025 championship title and a scholarship to compete in Formula Regional America Championship (FR Americas) next season. 


Lu and Buus complete lights-to-flag victory as title rivals collide

 

Lu Wei and Bastian Buus rescued what began as a tricky day for Origine Motorsport by claiming a lights-to-flag victory at Okayama that also helped it retain the teams’ championship.

Darlington ace Denny Hamlin wins pole for first NASCAR Cup Playoff race

Saturday August 30th...If any active driver has come close to mastering the Track Too Tough to Tame, it’s Denny Hamlin, who asserted his superiority once again in Saturday’s qualifying session for the Cook Out Southern 500 (6 p.m. ET Sunday on USA, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

 Gaining enormous time through Turns 3 and 4 on his single qualifying lap at Darlington Raceway, Hamlin knocked Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Chase Briscoe off the provisional pole for the first NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race.


Saturday August 30th...The good times kept rolling for Salvador de Alba as he was the fastest qualifier Saturday for the INDY NXT by Firestone Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway, his first career pole in the INDYCAR development series.


 

 

Friday August 29th..Garrett Alberson took the lead at the start of Friday night’s 40-lap, $10,000-to-win main event and never looked back.

 

He first held off Ricky Thornton Jr. for the first four laps, then Jonathan Davenport for several laps, and finally Devin Moran for the last 13 circuits to earn his first-ever win at Lernerville Speedway on the opening night of the 57th Annual Hillbilly 100 Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

Friday August 29th..For the second time this year, Jason Martin is back in Victory Lane with the American Sprint Car Series.

The 2023 Series champion from Liberal, KS, topped fellow two-time Series champion Blake Hahn Friday night at Electric City Speedway, losing the lead 19 laps in on a restart before taking it back four circuits later and leading the field back to the checkered flag to bank his 16th career Series win on opening night of the Montana Roundup.
