FIFTY: Cedar Lake Thriller Leads Haudenschild to World of Outlaws Milestone

A three-leader thriller goes to Haudenschild as he collects his 50th career win with The Greatest Show on Dirt

tyler carr

NEW RICHMOND, WI (June 27, 2026) - History means so much to Sheldon Haudenschild.

He grew up watching his legendary father Jac make his mark on the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series record books. When he began his own Sprint Car career, he set out to do the same.

On Saturday night at Cedar Lake Speedway, the Wooster, OH native reached a major milestone as he continues to cement his own place in the sport’s history.

The Greatest Show on Dirt punctuated the Federated Auto Parts Independence Spectacular in thrilling fashion. Three different leaders took turns out front over the course of the 35-lapper, and it was Haudenschild and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid surging to the top of the leaderboard in the closing laps to give the fans their money’s worth and then some.

Two of the top Sprint Car drivers in the world traded blows as time ticked away. Coming down the front straightaway to just two laps to go, Haudenschild capitalized on a monster run gathered from ripping the cushion in Turns 3 and 4 to grab the top spot for good. He drove away to his 50th career World of Outlaws win.

“I grew up coming to these with my dad as a kid,” an emotional Haudenschild said. “We’ve got 22 to go to get to dad. Man, 50. I never would’ve thought that when I first started racing. Me and my dad, we just went racing for fun. We didn’t get to race that much my first few years. We just kept plugging away. We never gave up. I crashed a lot of cars. We built a lot of race cars. We just kept going and going. My dad surrounded me with good people.”

Haudenschild is the 19th different driver to reach the 50-win marker, and he reached the marker is his 685th career Feature start. His first 46 came with Stenhouse Jr./Marshall Racing before bagging the latest four with KCP Racing this season. Two of his triumphs have been at Cedar Lake as he also won at the Wisconsin track in 2019. Haudenschild and the KCP crew also continued their status as perhaps the hottest team in the country with their 15th consecutive result of seventh or better, and 13 of those are top five finishes.

Kofoid settled for the runner-up spot for the second consecutive night in the Roth Motorsports No. 83. The result was enough to lift him into a tie with Carson Macedo for second in the standings.

Garet Williamson and Fischer Motorsports continued their recent stretch of speed with a third-place finish. That’s six consecutive top 10s, and the No. 23 has been on the podium in four of its last 10 races after none in the first 27.

Chris Windom and Bill Balog completed the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

Buddy Kofoid grabbed the Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night.

Sheldon Haudenschild collected his fourth Simpson Quick Time of the year in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying.

Heat Races belonged to Bill Balog (NOS Energy Drink Heat One), Emerson Axsom (TheGreatestStoreonDirt.com Heat Two), and Buddy Kofoid (WIX Filters Heat Three).

The SPA Technique #1 Redraw went to Emerson Axsom.

Spencer Bayston won the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown.

Cole Macedo wheeled from 14th to eighth to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger.

Logan Schuchart was the Tub O’ Towels Seventh Place Finisher.

PERFECTION: Gravel Sweeps Cedar Lake’s Independence Spectacular Opener

The two-time champion puts together a flawless night for his seventh victory of the year

tyler carr

NEW RICHMOND, WI (June 26, 2026) - David Gravel was simply perfect Friday night.

Perfect nights don’t come around often with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Simply winning a race with the country’s best drivers is an extremely difficult task, let alone being atop the leaderboard every time you hit the track.

But it’s no surprise that the driver and team that pulled it off at Cedar Lake Speedway’s Federated Auto Parts Independence Spectacular opener are the two-time and defending Series champions.

The Big Game Motorsports No. 2 was fastest in Race//Ready Hot Laps, fastest in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying, won NOS Energy Drink Heat One, pulled the SPA Technique #1 Redraw pill, and won the Toyota Dash. That left only the 35-lap Feature to put the finishing touches on a flawless evening, and Gravel did exactly that. The Watertown, CT driver led every single lap, holding off a charging Michael “Buddy” Kofoid from the fourth row to punctuate the perfect night.

“I’ve got to thank Cody (Jacobs), Pete (Stephens), Zach (Patterson), and Luke (Vaughn),” Gravel said. “This is a brand-new car tonight, first night on this race car. I can’t thank them enough. They bust their butts. Last time we were here we brought out a new car, and there were leaks all over the place. Tonight, we were flawless from the start of the night to the end of the night.” Can’t thank those guys enough. It makes my job so much easier. Hopefully this car will last us through the summer months and win a lot of big races.”

Friday gave Gravel and the Big Game group their second straight win to go along with last Saturday’s $300,000 BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals triumph. They’re up to seven on the season and trail Kofoid and Roth Motorsports by just one for the most in 2026. Gravel is now a three-time Cedar Lake winner, putting him alongside Dave Blaney and Kerry Madsen for the sixth most. He now hasn’t finished off the podium in his last seven tries at the New Richmond, WI track.

Buddy Kofoid took the Roth Motorsports No. 83 from eighth to second and notched his 14th podium of the season.

Bill Balog made his local fans proud by bringing the No. 17B home third, his best World of Outlaws finish at Cedar Lake.

Sheldon Haudenschild and Carson Macedo completed the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

David Gravel earned his 11th Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night in 2026.

Gravel also clocked his 13th Simpson Quick Time of the season in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying.

Heat Races belonged to David Gravel (NOS Energy Drink Heat One), Sheldon Haudenschild (TheGreatestStoreonDirt.com Heat Two), and Kelby Watt (WIX Filters Heat Three).

The SPA Technique #1 Redraw went to David Gravel.

MAKING THE BOSS PROUD: David Gravel Dominates Huset’s High Bank Nationals for Record Payday

The Big Game Motorsports crew makes team owner Tod Quiring proud by winning his track’s crown jewel for $300,000

tyler carr-

BRANDON, SD (June 20, 2026) - David Gravel admits he and Big Game Motorsports were frustrated heading into Saturday.

The two-time and defending World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series champions are accustomed to excellence. But with big money on the line at the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals, Huset’s Speedway had the champs puzzled.

They struggled to contend for wins at the track operated by their team owner, Tod Quiring. A solid Friday set them up well for Saturday’s record setting $300,000-to-win finale, and they found speed at the right time.

A win in the third Heat Race set Gravel up as the third seed for the King of the Hill, and he climbed the ladder all the way to the top to set himself up on the pole for the 40-lapper. The green flag dropped, and Gravel ripped ahead aboard the BillionAuto.com No. 2. The Watertown, CT native built a healthy lead through the first half of the race as battles raged on behind him. Tyler Courtney surged into second from eighth around the halfway mark and looked poised to bring the battle to Gravel, but he made the right lane change at the right time to take Courtney’s line. “Sunshine” threw a slider at him on a restart that didn’t quite clear, and that was that. Gravel drove away to the largest payday in World of Outlaws history and made the bossman proud.

“I’ve got to thank Tod Quiring, he puts so much money into this sport, this event, and the World of Outlaws,” Gravel said. “I have to thank my guys Cody (Jacobs), Pete (Stephens), Zach (Patterson), and Luke (Vaughn). We got Scott (Vogelsong) here who used to be our crew guy. He came and helped us this week. Man, what a night. What a rebound from the week. I felt like nothing was easy for us this week. Everybody was kind of frustrated, and we literally tried a different setup every time we hit the racetrack and kept working at it. Cody found something, and it worked out really, really good.”

Gravel’s sixth win of the season is the 126th of his career with the World of Outlaws. Four of those have come at Huset’s, equaling him with Donny Schatz and Sheldon Haudenschild for the fifth most at the 1/3 mile. He’s now collected five six-figure Sprint Car paydays in his career, making him only the third competitor with at least five checks worth at least $100,000 alongside Donny Schatz (13) and Kyle Larson (five). Saturday’s score also ended a bit of a drought for Gravel and the Big Game bunch as they snapped a 12-race winless streak.

Tyler Courtney came up just one spot shy of cashing in on the $100,000 High Bank Bounty for a $400,000 payday. The Clauson Marshall/NOS Energy Drink No. 7BC settled for a still stout $50,000 runner-up to punctuate the week on a high note after a slow start.

“From Wednesday to now, we made a lot of changes to the car and just worked our tails off to be in the position we were tonight,” Courtney said. “I feel like were pretty good until late. I felt like I got a pretty good restart there but just didn’t get across to make him (Gravel) lift. I was pretty confident he was going to try to drive around me, so I tried to get up there as fast as I could. I just didn’t quite get there.”

Donny Schatz put the CJB Motorsports No. 15 on the final step of the podium to pocket $25,000, leaving him two spots short of a 14th career six-figure payday. It was an up and down race for the 10-time Series champion that closed out on a high note.

“We got there and got passed Sheldon and kind of waited for the track to change a little bit,” Schatz said. “David set a pretty torrid pace, but I had a hell of a time getting through lapped traffic early and kind of had to wait for the track to change. I figured I’d give it a shot on that restart going around the top. I got up there and got all wormy and thought I had a low tire, maybe a right-rear and thought maybe I cut it. I made it work that corner, but the next time I came around I went to the bottom I knew something was wrong. I kind of got saved by that yellow. I don’t know, I guess I must’ve pounded the air out of it or let it get too low. That’s just the way it goes. We had a shot at trying to win one of the biggest paydays ever and ran third.”

Giovanni Scelzi and Buddy Kofoid rounded out the top five.

SECOND NO MORE: Haudenschild Tops Huset’s High Bank Nationals Prelim Barnburner

After three consecutive runner-up finishes, Haudenschild breaks through with a thrilling victory

tyler carr

BRANDON, SD (June 19, 2026) - Sheldon Haudenschild was tired of finishing second.

Three times in a row he’d finished runner-up entering Friday’s BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals prelim including the first two nights of the lucrative event. Three times the KCP Racing/NOS Energy Drink No. 18 had finished one spot shy of victory. Three times watching someone else celebrate on the frontstretch.

Not on Friday.

A motivated Haudenschild lined up fifth but slipped back to seventh in the opening laps. The charge began just before the halfway point as he ripped from sixth to third in only four circuits. Six laps later the Wooster, OH native took over the second spot and set his sights on a distantly leading Logan Schuchart.

The gap shrank and shrank until Haudenschild capitalized on the bottom with six laps to go as Schuchart struggled with traffic. Donny Schatz roared to life in the closing stages and battled Haudenschild all the way to the checkered, but he managed to hold off the 10-time World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car champion to snag the checkered flag and bank $20,000.

Even though the win snapped the string of second-place finishes, Haudenschild wasted no time putting focus on Saturday’s grand prize. The BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals finale is set to send the champion home with a Series record $300,000 check.

“It feels great,” Haudenschild said. “I don’t know. I’m just focused on tomorrow, man. That’s all I want to win but tonight was great. I lost a couple spots there early and just kind of had to ride it out and be patient and just see where those guys were going and try to sneak under them. I got under the 17 (Spencer Bayston). I got under the 28 (Conner Morrell). 17B (Bill Balog) was pretty committed to the top, and I’m so glad he didn’t move down. Once I got to second, I never saw the 1S (Logan Schuchart). I knew I just had to hit my marks. I nailed them and nailed them and finally got to him then I feel like I missed it a few times in a row but still pulled it off.”

Haudenschild’s third win of the season is the 49th of his career. His next will make him the 19th different driver to reach 50 with The Greatest Show on Dirt. Four of those victories have now come at Huset’s Speedway, which makes him the fifth winningest driver at the Brandon, SD track in Series history. Most importantly, Haudenschild and his KCP Racing crew sit atop the points entering Saturday’s finale. That’ll line them up on the pole of the opening Heat Race, and if Haudenschild can win it, he’ll be guaranteed a front row starting spot to go chase more than a quarter of a million dollars.

Donny Schatz brought the CJB Motorsports No. 15 home second after nearly stealing the win in the closing laps. He’s second in event points and in prime position to pursue his 14th career six-figure payday on Saturday.

Logan Schuchart rounded out the podium after leading the opening 29 laps in the Shark Racing No. 1S.

David Gravel and Spencer Bayston rounded out the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

David Gravel claimed his 9th Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night in 2026.

Gravel also clocked his 12th Simpson Quick Time in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying.

Heat Races belonged to Ryan Timms (NOS Energy Drink Heat One), Jacob Hughes (TheGreatestStoreonDirt.com Heat Two), Kerry Madsen (WIX Filters Heat Three), Carson Macedo (Golf Cart Services Heat Four), Buddy Kofoid (Tub O’ Towels Heat Five), and Terry McCarl (Milton Hershey School Heat Six).

The SPA Technique #1 Redraw went to Logan Schuchart.

Daison Pursley won the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown.

Buddy Kofoid ripped from 20th to seventh to earn KSE Racing Products Hard Charger honors.

Emerson Axsom was the Five Star Bodies Rookie of the Race.

Logan Schuchart set the ACME Trading Company Fast Lap.

The Smith Titanium Brake Systems Break of the Race went to Bill Balog.

FOUR IN A ROW: Kofoid Rips from Fourth for Another Huset’s Win to Open High Bank Nationals

The Roth Motorsports No. 83 continues to look unbeatable at the South Dakota oval as a huge week of racing begins

tyler carr

BRANDON, SD (June 17, 2026) - There may be no stopping Michael “Buddy” Kofoid this week at Huset’s Speedway.

The 24-year-old entered the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals as the clear-cut favorite. Heading into Wednesday’s Hefty Seed Huset’s Hustle prelim, Kofoid had won five of the last seven World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car visits to the 1/3 mile including the last three straight. The two nights he didn’t win? He finished second and third. That stretch includes a trio of six-figure paydays.

All eyes were on Kofoid to see how he and the Roth Motorsports crew would perform as the four straight days of racing for massive money began, and they didn’t fold under the pressure at all. Kofoid opened racing by ripping to the victory. A four pill in the redraw lined him up outside row two for the 35-lapper, and that proved to be no challenge.

It took Kofoid only 15 circuits to rocket from fourth to the front, driving by Christopher Thram for the lead. Things got a little interesting when Sheldon Haudenschild closed in after Kofoid tripped on the cushion in Turns 3 and 4. But it didn’t take long for the Penngrove, CA native to pad his lead back to a comfortable margin and drive away to victory and bank $20,000.

“Dylan (Buswell), Nate (Knotts), and Gage (Tyra) did an extremely good job all night,” Kofoid said. “I don’t know what else to say. They just keep giving me a car that I can just run wherever I want and make passes and make speed I don’t want to say easily, but it just comes so naturally. That’s all thanks to them.”

Kofoid has now topped six of the last eight trips to Huset’s. His seventh overall Huset’s score at the Brandon, SD oval equals him with Steve Kinser for third most all time. He’s now won four in a row there, which ties Mark Kinser for the longest streak in World of Outlaws history. And perhaps the most important number is that he’s first in points heading into Thursday’s $150,000-to-win Hefty Seed Huset’s Hustle finale. That’ll put him on the pole of the opening Heat Race, and if he’s able to win, that’ll guarantee the Toyota Racing No. 83 a front row spot to go after a fourth straight six-figure check at Huset’s.

Sheldon Haudenschild brought the KCP Racing No. 18 home second to continue their hot streak with four podiums in a row. That also slotted him second in points and in a great spot to go after $150,000 Thursday.

Garet Williamson finished third in the Fischer Motorsports No. 23 for his fourth career World of Outlaws podium and second at Huset’s. Like the two ahead, his Wednesday finishing position mirrors where he’s at in points for Thursday. Williamson will start on the pole of the third Heat.

Austin McCarl and Cole Macedo completed the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

Sheldon Haudenschild claimed his fifth Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night in 2026.

Justin Henderson set Simpson Quick Time for the first time since 2016.

Heat Races belonged to Jacob Hughes (NOS Energy Drink Heat One), Kerry Madsen (TheGreatestStoreonDirt.com Heat Two), Giovanni Scelzi (WIX Filters Heat Three), Buddy Kofoid (Golf Cart Services Heat Four), Sam Henderson (Tub O’ Towels Heat Five), and Dayne Kingshott (Milton Hershey School Heat Six).

Giovanni Scelzi won the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown.

Spencer Bayston wheeled from 22nd to 14th to earn KSE Racing Products Hard Charger honors.

Emerson Axsom was the Five Star Bodies Rookie of the Race with an eighth-place run.

Christopher Thram clocked the ACME Trading Company Fast Lap.

MISSILE ON A MISSION: Marks Charges from Eighth to Knoxville Victory Lane

The Pennsylvanian comes out on top for his first win of the year after a frantic final few laps

tyler carr

KNOXVILLE, IA (June 12, 2026) - A win was only a matter of time for Brent Marks.

He’s spent the last several weeks racking up close calls. Entering Friday’s Premier Chevy Dealers Clash at Knoxville Raceway, Marks’ stat sheet showed six podiums in the past seven races including five runner-ups but no victories. A mere step away from Victory Lane for the first time in 2026 over and over.

At Knoxville, Marks finally made that elusive final step, and he did it with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars.

The Myerstown, PA native came out on top of a wild 25-lapper at “The Sprint Car Capital of the World” with a determined drive from eighth. Marks worked his way forward from row four to set himself up for a frantic final sequence.

Right after taking over second from Logan Schuchart on Lap 22, race leader Rico Abreu slowed with an expiring engine to hand the lead to Marks. But Schuchart capitalized with a slide job in Turns 3 and 4 to take the top spot and lead the lap. Marks returned the favor the next time around in the same set of corners with a slider of his own to retake the top spot. Sheldon Haudenschild surged into second on the last lap and nearly made a run for the lead, but Marks held on to put his No. 19 in Victory Lane.

“I was just driving the hell out of the thing,” Marks said. “The car got so good, and it got so grippy that there were times to where it would twitch really bad, and I was fighting it because it had that much grip. What a hell of a run there. Actually, crossing the checkered I think we ran out of fuel. I’m not sure, it just kind of died on me. Hopefully that’s all it was. What a way to get our first win of the year. This is just awesome.”

Marks’ first triumph of 2026 is the 16th of his career with The Greatest Show on Dirt. It’s his second time visiting Knoxville Victory Lane to go along with a 2022 score. He’s the 14th different winner through 28 races in 2026 with the World of Outlaws.

Sheldon Haudenschild brought the KCP Racing No. 18 home second to notch his third consecutive podium and seventh top five in the last eight races.

Logan Schuchart rounded out the podium after contending for the win late aboard the Shark Racing No. 1S.

David Gravel and early leader Aaron Reutzel completed the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

Garet Williamson grabbed his third Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night in 2026.

Logan Schuchart set Simpson Quick Time for the third time this season.

Heat Races belonged to Logan Schuchart (NOS Energy Drink Heat One), Rico Abreu (TheGreatestStoreonDirt.com Heat Two), Aaron Reutzel (WIX Filters Heat Three), and Brent Marks (Golf Cart Services Heat Four).

Schuchart also topped the Toyota Dash.

SPICY SUNDAY: Carson Macedo Stays Hot with Angell Park Victory

Macedo drives by Williamson to claim the Ted Johnson Memorial and cut into Gravel’s point lead a little more

Emily Schwanke

SUN PRAIRIE, WI (June 7, 2026) -

The Summer of Money is nearing, and Carson Macedo and the Jason Johnson Racing crew are heating up.

The No. 41 team didn’t quite perform up to their high standards over the first few months of the season. Sure, they were consistent, but Macedo and company are used to visiting Victory Lane often. Over the last few weeks, they’ve done exactly that.

Heading into Sunday’s Ted Johnson Memorial Race at Sun Prairie, WI’s Angell Park Speedway, they’d won twice in the last five races – Jacksonville Speedway on May 21 and River Cities Speedway on May 29. An impressive drive Sunday made it three out of the last six with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars.

Macedo lined up on the third row and worked his way forward on a tricky surface. It took him only five laps to climb to the runner-up spot. Then the game of cat and mouse was on as he chased polesitter Garet Williamson. Macedo closed in several times as they navigated traffic but couldn’t quite seal the deal. Finally, the door opened on a Lap 29 restart.

The Lemoore, CA native timed it perfectly and threw a slide job that cleared, and Williamson couldn’t counter. That proved to be the winning move as Macedo motored away to the checkered flag.

“A huge thank you and hats off to Philip Dietz, Robby McQuinn, and Adam Zimmerman, they did a great job,” Macedo said. “We made a lot of adjustments all night long. I felt like every time I came in, I had a lot of feedback. Obviously, Phil made a lot of changes, and Adam and Robby worked their tails off doing it. Just a big thank you to them. The track changed a lot. I was super nervous at the beginning of the race before it started. I thought it was going to blow all the way off, and there wasn’t going to be much left. But there was just enough meat where I could kind of connect the grip and make a lot of speed in this Albaugh 41 car.”

Macedo’s fourth win of the year is the 62nd of his career with The Greatest Show on Dirt. Sunday might’ve been his first Sprint Car score at Angell Park, but he did also top a POWRi Midget race there in 2016. Macedo made it three different winners in three World of Outlaws races at Angell Park, joining Donny Schatz (2016) and Sheldon Haudenschild (2025). And the most important number is 70, which is the gap between he and championship leader David Gravel atop the standings. Entering the weekend, Macedo trailed by 114 markers.

Sheldon Haudenschild finished second in the KCP Racing/NOS Energy Drink No. 18. He’s now reeled off six top fives in the last seven races including a trio of podiums.

Bill Balog made his home state fans proud with a third-place run to notch his second podium visit of the season.

Logan Schuchart and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid completed the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

David Gravel earned the Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night.

Bill Balog set Simpson Quick Time in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying.

Heat Races belonged to Bill Balog (NOS Energy Drink Heat One), Spencer Bayston (TheGreatestStoreonDirt.com Heat Two), and Sheldon Haudenschild (WIX Filters Heat Three).

The SPA Technique #1 Redraw went to Garet Williamson.

Williamson also topped the Toyota Dash.

Logan Julien wheeled from 17th to 10th to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger.

Spencer Bayston was the Tub O’ Towels Seventh Place Finisher.

Ashton Torgerson finished eighth, good enough for the Five Star Bodies Rookie of the Race.

Garet Williamson set the ACME Trading Company Fast Lap.

Williamson also took home the Smith Titanium Brake Systems Break of the Race.

UP NEXT: The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars make a stop at Knoxville Raceway on June 12-13 for the final leg of the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash, marking the last visit to the 1/2 mile before the 65th running of the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s (Aug. 12-15). FOR PELLA: Heavy-Hearted Haudenschild Claims Thrilling Plymouth Victory

Haudenschild steals the show after Kofoid and Gravel trade blows in a three-leader battle

Emily Schwanke

PLYMOUTH, WI (Saturday, June 6) - Sheldon Haudenschild suited up and got behind the wheel with a heavy heart Saturday night.

He and his wife Zan sadly lost their beloved dog Pella in the morning after giving her a full and fun life over the years. Haudenschild fought through a flood of emotion to come and do his job with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Plymouth Dirt Track. And he not only showed up; he won one for Pella.

A record crowd jammed into the Wisconsin track, and the best Sprint Car drivers in the world gave the fans a treat. Early on it was David Gravel and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid trading blows for the top spot. The two winningest drivers on tour this year went back and forth with sliders, crossovers, and lane swaps in a dramatic duel.

But disaster struck for Gravel late as he clipped a rut in Turn 4 while finishing a slide job and sent the Big Game Motorsports No. 2 hard into the wall. The impact caused severe rear-end damage and ended his night early.

The resulting caution set up a seven-lap shootout to the finish, and it was Haudenschild’s time to shine. After slipping back as far as eighth early in the race, he’d scratched and clawed his way up to second as the KCP Racing/NOS Energy Drink No. 18 came to life. The Wooster, OH native glued his car to the bottom and motored by Kofoid with five laps to go. Kofoid had no answer as Haudenschild cruised to an emotional victory.

“Man, what an up and down race that was for me,” Haudenschild said. “I went from fourth to seventh pretty quick, and I was just struggling to keep it up there at the beginning of the race. Hats off to (Kyle) Ripper and Adam (Clark) and Dauson (Heitritter). What a day, man. I lost my dog this morning right here in the driveway of the track. It’s been a tough day.

“I feel like we’ve been really close to winning these races. The 83 and 2 are just really good right now. I kind of knew when I got back to him that my car was definitely good enough, and I could move around. I think Buddy was floating the top a little bit, and I kind of tried that. Yeah, I was just able to move around. Ripper did a really good job with this car.”

Haudenschild snapped a 21-race winless drought with Saturday’s score as he picked up his second victory of the season and the 48th of his career with The Greatest Show on Dirt. He’s the fourth different winner through four visits to Plymouth for the World of Outlaws. Plymouth became the 29th different track where Haudenschild has went to Victory Lane with the Series and third in the state of Wisconsin.

Kofoid came home second for his 11th podium of the season in the Roth Motorsports No. 83.

Garet Williamson rounded out the podium in the Fischer Motorsports No. 23 to notch his best finish of the season and extend his current streak of top 10s to four.

Cole Macedo and Carson Macedo completed the top five.

Persistent Rainfall, Soft Grounds Postpone Nodak to August 30

The focus shifts to three races at three different tracks

MINOT, ND (May 31, 2026) - With heavy rainfall hitting Minot, ND throughout Saturday and more precipitation arriving Sunday morning, creating soft grounds at Nodak Speedway and conditions unsuitable for racing, World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and SLS Promotions have agreed to postpone the Gerdau Metals Recycling Magic City Showdown to Sunday, Aug. 30.

The postponement sets up a North Dakota tripleheader weekend with a Friday, Aug. 28, stop at Grand Forks, ND’s River Cities Speedway and a Saturday, Aug. 29, visit to West Fargo, ND’s Fix It Forward Speedway leading into Nodak’s new spot on the calendar.

All tickets purchased for Sunday’s race will be honored on the new date.

The World of Outlaws now shifts its focus to the three races in three nights at three different tracks – Hartford, MI’s Hartford Speedway on June 5, Plymouth, WI’s Plymouth Dirt Track on June 6, and Sun Prairie, WI’s Angell Park Speedway on June 7. For tickets, CLICK HERE.

ROW FIVE RIPPER: Macedo Motors from Ninth for Wild River Cities Win

tyler carr

The Jason Johnson Racing crew collects their third win of the season in the latest River Cities thriller

GRAND FORKS, ND (May 29, 2026) - River Cities Speedway simply does not miss.

It’s tough to meet the hype when longtime World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series announcer Johnny Gibson calls the Grand Forks, ND bullring his favorite track of the more than 400 he’s visited. But River Cities continues to step up to the plate and knock it out of the park.

The Greatest Show on Dirt rolled into town Friday for the 1st Leg of the Northern Tour Don Mack Classic. A huge crowd packed the grandstands, and the fans the fans were not disappointed.

River Cities served up a wild 40-lapper with three different leaders and a late duel between two of the best in the world to decide it. Series rookie Kasey Jedrzejek led the way from the pole when the green flag dropped. He paced the opening 14 circuits before David Gravel took command on a Lap 15 restart. Cole Macedo surged into second and appeared poised to contend for his first career World of Outlaws win before tripping over the cushion and losing several spots. That gifted his brother Carson Macedo the runner-up spot and set up a wild closing segment.

Macedo closed his Jason Johnson Racing No. 41 right up on the tail tank of the Big Game Motorsports No. 2. A huge run allowed him to dive under Gravel for the lead down the front straightaway with four laps to go. Gravel answered with a slide job in Turns 3 and 4 the next time around but Macedo crossed him over. That proved to be the winning move as Macedo motored away to the checkered flag.

“Man, honestly that was just a Philip Dietz-race car right there,” Macedo said. “Every once in a while, you get one of those that’s just absolutely unbelievable. He killed it here tonight. I felt a little off in time trials then felt really good in the Heat Race. I felt like we made a lot of gains and were just a little stagnant because the track was a little faster. I felt like I was really good the whole Feature. The minute we fired off I was able to pick a few cars off. Then I just got kind of bungled up there in traffic to where I couldn’t make a move. I was trying to get by my brother and I think Balog for a long time. I couldn’t quite get clear of them. Once I did, I was able to move around and start plugging away nice laps. Man, that was awesome. My heart rate was through the roof.”

The career win total for Macedo climbs to 61 after Friday’s triumph. Three of those have come at River Cities, which ties him with Craig Dollansky for the second most at the quarter mile. He and the Jason Johnson Racing team are heating up with their second score in the last four races after just one in the first 21 nights of action this season. Macedo also regained sole possession of the second position in points.

David Gravel finished second to notch his Series-best 14th podium of 2026. His point lead is at 114 markers over Macedo.

Kasey Jedrzejek brought the Bill Rose Racing No. 6 home third for his first career World of Outlaws podium, and it happened to come at the track where Rose’s best Series finish is thanks to his third place run at River Cities back in 2011.

Chris Windom and Sheldon Haudenschild completed the top five.

NIGHTLY NOTES

Sheldon Haudenschild laid down his third Race//Ready Hottest Lap of the Night in the last four races.

David Gravel set his 10th Simpson Quick Time of the season in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying.

Heat Races belonged to Andy Pake (NOS Energy Drink Heat One), Kasey Jedrzejek (TheGreatestStoreonDirt.com Heat Two), Bill Balog (WIX Filters Heat Three), and Sheldon Haudenschild (Golf Cart Services Heat Four).

The SPA Technique #1 Redraw went to Kasey Jedrzejek.

WON ONE: Sam Hafertepe Jr. Claims 89th American Sprint Car Series Victory in The Big One Opener at Belleville

don holbrook

BELLEVILLE, KS (June 27, 2026) — Sam Hafertepe Jr. is back in his groove again.

The American Sprint Car Series points leader ended his wait to Victory Lane with a dominating performance on the opening night of The Big One at Belleville High Banks for his first win of the 2026 season.

Hafertepe put his No. 15H Maxim Chassis at the top of the leaderboard throughout Friday, leading the way in Hot Laps, setting a new track record in Qualifying, then won the Honest Abe Roofing Dash to start on the Pole Position for the night’s Feature.

When the green flag dropped, Hafertepe darted to the lead over Matt Covington by keeping his car through the middle lane of Turn 1, then slid up the track out of Turn 2 to get clear as Garrett Benson used the open space on the cushion of the 1/2-mile to take the runner-up spot over Covington.

The Sunnyvale, TX driver orchestrated the pace of the Feature by stretching the lead by 0.5 seconds per lap to reach a one-second lead over Benson through the first quarter of the 20-lap Feature.

When Hafertepe reached the halfway point, he amassed a 2.6-second gap as lap traffic began to interrupt his leading momentum. Benson began to reel in the leader back in his direction, then lost ground on Hafertepe once more as he found clean air after overtaking the lapped cars.

Reaching a 3.5-second lead by the sight of the twin checkered flags, Hafertepe claimed his 89th career ASCS National Tour triumph and stretched the points lead to 37 markers over Covington exiting the night.

“It was a really good race car,” Hafertepe said. “We kind of tried a little bit in the Heat race, and probably wasn’t what we needed. Then, we tried a little more in the Dash, then made some more changes for the Feature, and got our car feeling like it was here last year.

“We’re on, man. I’ve had interviews about it, going ‘You haven’t won a race and all this.’ I mean, I won one now. So, it was inevitable. I didn’t know if it was gonna happen tonight, tomorrow, whenever, but it was gonna happen.”

Benson finished the night in second, and Covington completed the podium for his third appearance in the last four Series races. Jake Bubak finished fourth, and Seth Bergman rounded out the top five.

Recap Notes:

Quick Time Award: Sam Hafertepe Jr. (15.030 sec.)

Heat Race Winners: Matt Covington, Seth Bergman, Garrett Benson

Honest Abe Roofing Dash Winner: Sam Hafertepe Jr.

Hard Charger Award: Whit Gastineau (+5)

Up Next: The American Sprint Car Series will return to Belleville High Banks on Saturday night for The Big One finale on June 27.

seth Bergman Takes Second Win of 2026 in Salute to Service Sprint Car Showdown at 81 Speedway

Matt Skipper

PARK CITY, KS (June 6, 2026) — Seth Bergman’s hard work has put him at the heart of the American Sprint Car Series championship fight in 2026.

The Snohomish, WA racer collected his second win of the season in the Salute to Service Sprint Car Showdown through a competitive 25 laps around 81 Speedway.

Starting the Feature from the front row, Bergman and polesitter Whit Gastineau raced side-by-side through the opening lap until Gastineau gained clearance of Bergman by using the high line of the 3/8-mile track.

Through the first nine laps, Bergman played second fiddle to Gastineau while Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Matt Covington joined the battle for the top spot as lap traffic began to play a factor.

On Lap 10, Bergman made his move for the lead by peeling to the bottom lane into Turn 1 while Gastineau ran the cushion. The two drivers stayed even across the backstretch until Bergman pulled out in front of Gastineau off of Turn 4 to secure the top spot.

As Bergman shifted his No. 23 Maxim Chassis to the cushion, Hafertepe pulled ahead of Gastineau on Lap 14 to secure second place as Gastineau played defense on Covington to keep his podium position.

While Hafertepe kept Bergman within his eyesight, he was unable to reach the 2024 Series champion as the traffic forced him to deviate from his racing line to chase down the leader.

Bergman never relinquished the lead as he drove to his 28th career ASCS National Tour triumph. The win placed him in a tie with 2003 Series champ Travis Rilat for ninth on the all-time wins list.

“You gotta go, you gotta set a pace,” Bergman said. “We had a really good night. We’ve yet to unload, and being good out of the box. Because then you’re chasing all night. But tonight, we unloaded really good, and we were able to fine-tune on this hot rod all night. We used the Dash as a little bit of a learning experience and gave us some really good direction for the Feature.

“I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am with this team and race car. That was hands down the best race car I’ve had in a long time, and it’s not by chance. What’s so satisfying is that it’s something we’ve been working really, really hard at, and we’ve gotten our butts kicked a lot. It’s very humbling; you gotta grind through when you’re not good. And tonight, we were exceptional.”

Hafertepe finished the night with a runner-up result to retain the Series lead by 22 points over Covington and 23 points away from Bergman.

Recap Notes:

Quick Time Award: Seth Bergman

Heat Winners: Sam Hafertepe Jr., Whit Gastineau, Jeremy Campbell

Blake Hahn Performs Masterclass in First Don Swope Classic Victory at Creek County Speedway

Richard Bales

SAPULPA, OK (June 6, 2026) — Any win with the American Sprint Car Series is special for Blake Hahn.
However, winning at the track his grandfather, Emmett Hahn, built in an event honoring family friend Don Swope hits close to home.

The Sapulpa, OK driver set the pace throughout the night at the Creek County Speedway, winning his Heat race, then secured Pole Position after winning the Honest Abe Roffing Dash.

When the green flag dropped, Hahn jumped to the top spot over Alex Sewell and Sam Hafertepe Jr. with his No. 52 Sprint Car using the cushion in the early stages.

Behind the leaders, trouble ensued for ASCS National Tour title chaser Kyler Johnson as he was involved in two separate incidents through the first six laps of the 30-lap Feature that took him out of contention.

Hahn continued to orchestrate the speed at 1/4-mile bullring around the top as Sewell and Hafertepe used the bottom lane in their hunt for the lead.

Suddenly, Hafertepe’s engine expired on Lap 14, which immediately took him out of the race and put his Series points lead in jeopardy as direct challenger Matt Covington inherited the podium position.

Hahn continued to keep Sewell at bay throughout the second half as the No. 8 dealt with Covington’s attempts at taking the runner-up position away.

Leading by 1.5 seconds over the two drivers, Hahn wheeled to the twin checkered flags in scoring the denim overalls and a case of beer for his 26th career National Tour win and his first Don Swope Classic triumph.

“This means a lot; Swope’s been instrumental for my family,” Hahn said. “He’s always been one of those guys that was always there when we needed him. Him with Jeremy McGehee and those group of guys, we wouldn’t be able to be where we are with the Chili Bowl and Tulsa Shootout.

“Truthfully, it’s really cool. I’ve been wanting to win this one for him really bad. So to be able to win, it means a lot. One of the cooler things is that the race shop I work out of was handmade by Don Swope. I’m really excited to be on the podium and thankful to have my family here with me too.”

With Hafertepe finishing in 17th and Covington completing the night in third, they are separated by a mere five points in the Series standings, leaving the night at Creek County.

Recap Notes:

Quick Time Award: Sam Hafertepe Jr.

Heat Winners: Blake Hahn, Alex Sewell, Kade Morton

Honest Abe Roofing Dash Winner: Blake Hahn

Hard Charger Award: Bradley Fezard (+8)

Up Next: The American Sprint Car Series heads to Park City, KS, with the ASCS Sooner Region and Gunsmoke Region for the Salute to Service Sprint Car Showdown at 81 Speedway on Saturday, June 6.
