Zeb Wise claims Attica Ambush finale for $12,000 payday

ATTICA, Ohio (September 2, 2023) - It was close to a weekend sweep at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, but Rudeen Racing’s Zeb Wise stepped in with other plans, ultimately concluding the speedway’s annual Attica Ambush presented by Janet Holbrook with a feature score. The victory, a $12,000 prize - the richest Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 prize in the track’s history - bumped Wise’s All Star victory count to four at the home of “Ohio’s Finest Racing,” now with 11-career All Star triumphs to his name, seven of which occurring during the 2023 season.

Although Wise was able to turn up the volume late, it was Friday night winner, Kerry Madsen, who claimed the early race lead, driving on to command the first 17 circuits before being overtaken by the Rudeen Racing No. 26. A mid-race caution on lap 16 is what set the winning tone for Wise, earning a great restart to take third from “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney, then sliding by Madsen in turn four just two circuits later.

Courtney would eventually follow Wise by Madsen the following lap, and despite wave after wave of two and three wide traffic, Wise held strong, leading Courtney, Madsen, Kyle Reinhardt, and Chris Windom to the final checkers.

“Just by the way my car was handling, I knew I’d be good late. But as the race went on, I started to struggle more and more. Especially with traffic,” Angola, Indiana’s Zeb Wise, driver of the Rudeen Racing/Rayce Rudeen Foundation No. 26 sprint car, said. “The lapped guys were having a race of their own, and they were putting on one heck of a show, I just didn’t know where I needed to go. I’m not sure where Tyler [Courtney] was behind me, but I knew he had to be close.

“Just hats off to this entire team,” Wise added. “We struggled some last night, but they gave me one heck of a race car tonight. They really make my job easy. Hats off to all of the fans. I love being at Attica and we love racing here.”

Kerry Madsen perfect for $6,000 in Attica Ambush opener

ATTICA, Ohio (September 1, 2023) - The “Madman” Kerry Madsen was perfect on Friday night at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, not only opening the annual “Attica Ambush” presented by Janet Holbrook with a $6,000 payday, but leading all 35 circuits in the process, simultaneously securing his first Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory of the 2023 season. Madsen, pilot of the Vermeer Motorsports No. 55 sprint car, is now a 12-time All Star winner over the course of his illustrious open wheel career, leading two-time and defending All Star champion, Tyler Courtney, and recent Bryan Grove Racing hiree, Kyle Reinhardt, to the final checkers.

As noted, Madsen led every lap of Attica’s Ambush opener, securing the lead at the official start over Zeb Wise and Kyle Reinhardt. Despite maintaining a perfect track record from the point, the St Marys, New South Wales, Australia, native did encounter some disturbances, most of which in the form of cautions, as well as a few run-ins with lapped traffic.

While Madsen maintained control, the battle for second was far from subtle with Zeb Wise, Tyler Courtney, and Kyle Reinhardt each throwing their hats in the ring for a podium spot. Seemingly, Reinhardt was the ace to put the most pressure on Madsen, actually showing his nose and working for the lead with just over five remaining. Unfortunately, the Neptune City, New Jersey, native ended his top spot tango on lap 30, nearly spinning to a spot in turn two while battling the Madman.

“It’s stressful being out front…you never know where you need to go or where you need to be,” Kerry Madsen stated. “Just hats off to this entire team. To win at Attica, you have to have a really good race car, and that’s what we had here tonight. Happy to get it done for everyone at Vermeer Motorsports. A tip of the hat to all of our progress. Fast cars win races.”

All Stars gear up for Attica Ambush September 1-2

ATTICA, Ohio (August 30, 2023) - The month of September is officially underway for the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1, and the home of “Ohio’s Finest Racing” is first on the hit list.

Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, a staple on the All Star campaign trail with three events contested already in 2023, will host “America’s Series” this Friday and Saturday, September 1-2, set to headline their annual two-day Attica Ambush. Featuring two, complete programs, Attica’s doubleheader will also feature two major paydays including a $12,000-to-win finale on Saturday evening; Friday’s opener will award $6,000.

As noted, Attica Raceway Park hosted the All Star Circuit of Champions on three prior occasions already this season including one during the annual running of Ohio Sprint Speedweek. Three appearances resulted in three different winners, one of which was Rudeen Racing’s own Zeb Wise, who opened the aforementioned Ohio Sprint Speedweek event with a triumph over Tyler Courtney and Jordan Ryan. Wise is currently on top of the All Star driver standings heading into the two-day visit to the Buckeye State, leading Lane Racing’s Chris Windom and Clauson Marshall Racing’s Tyler Courtney.

Fremont, Ohio’s Craig Mintz and Myerstown, Pennsylvania’s Brent Marks each were victorious at Attica Raceway Park in April, each doing so in dramatic fashion. Mintz earned his victory with a last corner pass of Wise, while Marks accomplished his impressive feat from 20th, also overtaking the Rudeen Racing No. 26.

America’s Series will roll into Ohio fresh off of a two-day visit to the Wolverine State, headlining action at Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan, and Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Michigan, on Friday and Saturday, August 25-26. Zeb Wise was the man on top in Auburn, while two-time and defending All Star champion, Tyler Courtney, claimed the $8,500 top prize at Butler.

Those seeking additional information pertaining to Attica Raceway Park’s Attica Ambush should visit the facility online at www.atticaracewaypark.com. Racing is slated to begin at 7:45 p.m. on Friday and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
