SCCA AND PRI JOIN FORCES TO EXPAND MOTORSPORTS ACCESS TO ALL

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 13, 2024) -- The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and Performance Racing Industry (PRI) announced a new partnership at the PRI Show aimed at driving the growth of U.S. motorsports. This collaboration will provide both PRI and SCCA members with benefits from each organization, fostering greater opportunities within the motorsports community.

Through this partnership, SCCA members who join PRI as an individual member will receive a exclusive membership rate, with a portion of their PRI annual membership supporting the SCCA Scholarship Fund. Additionally, SCCA members will enjoy a 20% savings on business memberships to PRI. With their PRI membership, SCCA members will gain access to a variety of exclusive offers from PRI’s membership partners.

This partnership also aligns SCCA with the SEMA-PRI Regulatory and Legislative Advocacy efforts, as well as offering PRI presence at one or more of SCCA’s National Championship events. SCCA, meanwhile, will exhibit at the 2025 PRI Show.

This announcement comes just one day after SCCA President and CEO Mike Cobb and IMSA President John Doonan took part in a PRI-hosted session entitled “Attracting and Training the Next Generation of Motorsports Leaders” in the T.O.P.S. HQ (Tracks, Operators, Promotors & Sanctioning Bodies Headquarters) during the 2024 PRI Show in Indianapolis, IN.

“The partnership between PRI and SCCA is a natural one, especially considering that both organizations have the same goal of accelerating grassroots motorsports in the U.S.,” said Cobb. “Thanks to this partnership, SCCA members will have access to PRI’s resources, which includes not only discount programs and access to a broad array of potential supplier partners, but also to the latest industry news that is relevant to the hobby they hold so dear.”

As part of this partnership, SCCA and PRI members will see relevant content from the other organization appear on their websites and in their e-newsletters. PRI members will also have the opportunity to join and participate in thousands of SCCA events each year.

“This partnership with the Sports Car Club of America marks a significant step forward in uniting and strengthening the motorsports community,” said PRI President Michael Good. “By combining the strengths of PRI and SCCA, we’re creating new opportunities for enthusiasts, professionals, and businesses to grow and thrive in the U.S. motorsports landscape. Together, we’re fueling the future of racing.”

About the Sports Car Club of America
Founded in 1944 by motoring enthusiasts, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) keeps true to its roots by sanctioning thousands of amateur and professional motorsports events each year. With 115 regional chapters spanning the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico, SCCA is the largest active motorsports membership organization in the world, putting dreams within reach for those searching for fun with cars.

Local events at nearby circuits and facilities remain the backbone of SCCA’s activities, with the Club’s volunteers providing everything from course marshaling to timing and beyond at events spanning road racing, autocross, rally, and more. Whether it’s behind the wheel or being active trackside, SCCA gets you there.

SCCA’s volunteers are also instrumental in IMSA and FIA race weekends, with SCCA-trained workers standing trackside for many of the key roles necessary when hosting professional racing events.

Hoosier Tire Announces Hoosier Hero Class of 2025

Indianapolis, Ind. – December 12, 2024.
Hoosier Racing Tire proudly announced its class of 2025 Hoosier Heroes at a formal press conference during the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis, Indiana on Thursday, December 12.

The Hoosier Hero program was developed in 2022 to annually honor and recognize those who embody Hoosier’s mission of fueling passion, pride and success both on and off the track. Any racer can be nominated for a chance to be featured in the program. Late this summer, fans were invited to submit nominations for the 2025 Hoosier Hero class, resulting in over 400 initial entries. An internal review process narrowed the field to 25 finalists, which were then put to both a public fan vote as well as a media/industry vote. With over 13,000 fan votes cast combined with the media/industry vote, the Hoosier Hero class of 2025 was selected.

Introducing the 2025 Hoosier Heroes:

  • Tyler Allen NE-EDT Pro Series / ATV TT
  • Kelly Anderson Super Street
  • Emerson Axsom Sprint Cars
  • Emma Britt INEX Legends
  • Derek Fletcher NASA / TT2
  • Kylie Glick Cars Tour West / Pro Late Model
  • Willie Mullins ARCA Racing Series
  • Felicia Smith 8.5 Index, 9.0 Index, Heavyweight, Daily Driver, True Street, 1/4, 1/8, and No Prep

“We’re thrilled to unveil the Hoosier Hero class of 2025,” said Joerg Burfien, President and CEO of Hoosier Racing Tire. “Getting to know these racers and witnessing their passion, grit, and determination both on and off the track has been truly inspiring. The excitement around the fan vote added another layer of energy, making the process even more special for us. The Hoosier Hero program is really gaining recognition, and we’re proud to celebrate individuals who drive our sport forward.”

While honoring active racers, Hoosier also recognizes a Hoosier Hero Legend in addition to the annual 12-member class. Awarded annually in conjunction with the Hero program, the Legend honors a member of the racing community who has left an incredible mark in motorsports.

Following an overwhelming public response, Scott Bloomquist was selected as the 2025 Hoosier Hero Legend. Bloomquist's impact on the sport was undeniable. He inspired countless racers with his innovative spirit and commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance. Scott’s daughter, Ariel Bloomquist, was on hand to accept the award on behalf of her father.

“Scott Bloomquist was a legendary name in the world of not only dirt racing, but motorsports in general,” said Nic Moncher, Head of Marketing, Hoosier Racing Tire. “He was at the forefront for dirt late model racing’s growth and success over the years, as well as played an integral part in helping develop and test Hoosier’s dirt tire lineup. It’s been a privilege to have had Ariel (Bloomquist) here with us this week to honor her father and I look forward to showcasing his legacy for years to come as the 2025 Hoosier Hero Legend.”

The Hoosier Heroes will air on MAVTV GO as a 12-part series with each episode highlighting a different member of the 2025 class. MAVTV GO is a direct-to-consumer streaming app available on IOS, Android connected devices, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and online at MAVTVGO.com.

“We’re proud to partner with Hoosier Racing Tire to bring the Hoosier Heroes series to life,” said MAVTV President CJ Olivares. “These racers, from rising stars to legends like Scott Bloomquist, represent the heart and soul of motorsports. By sharing their stories, we celebrate not just their achievements, but also the passion and perseverance that fuel the sport. This series is a perfect fit for MAVTV, and we’re excited to share it with motorsports fans everywhere.”

The Hoosier Hero class of 2025 will be sharing their stories throughout the week at the PRI Show on stage in the Hoosier Booth (Yellow Hall, Booth 3439) with longtime motorsports broadcast member Jim Tretow leading the conversations.

Follow Hoosier on social media @hoosiertire on Instagram, X, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn to learn more about the Hero program and help celebrate the newly minted class throughout the year.

TIRES DESIGNED FOR CHAMPIONS

PRI ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

-- Steve Lewis and Ed Iskenderian honored for outstanding contributions that shaped the landscape of automotive performance --

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 12, 2024) -- Performance Racing Industry (PRI) announced Steve Lewis and Ed Iskenderian as the first-ever motorsports industry legends to be inducted into the PRI Hall of Fame. Lewis and Iskenderian were recognized and celebrated today during the Grand Opening Breakfast at the 2024 PRI Show.

Launched in 2024, PRI’s Hall of Fame honors the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals and entities in the motorsports industry, preserving their legacies and inspiring future generations. The inductees were honored for their career accomplishments, impact on the sport, contributions to innovation, sportsmanship, leadership qualities, and overall influence within the racing community.

“Steve and Ed left an incredible mark on the racing industry through their courage to take risks and relentless drive to push the industry forward,” said PRI President Michael Good. “Their accomplishments, integrity, and passion for helping others have inspired countless people and we are proud to present them with this accolade that celebrates their boldness and innovation.”

Steve Lewis

After attending his first midget race with his parents at a young age, Lewis knew that racing was the industry he wanted to be a part of. His passion for motorsports led him to become one of the United States Auto Club (USAC)’s most successful car owners. Several of the biggest names in racing competed for him during his tenure with USAC, recording a record 133 National victories, more than anyone in history, and 10 USAC National Car Owner titles.

In 1988, Lewis launched the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show to support the racing and performance segments and improve the ways in which the racing industry conducts business. A passionate advocate for racers and businesses, his leadership and vision set new standards of excellence in the industry, and the PRI Show quickly became (and is still) the premier event for the entire motorsports community.

“It’s a humbling privilege to have someone say ‘hey, you’re the number one’, especially of this project because it was our number one project and it was a very important thing for us to do,” said Lewis on being the first inductee into the PRI Hall of Fame. “Racing is a real industry, and it now has a trade show that where every year the buyers and suppliers can get together in a professional atmosphere and get the work done, and I think that’s important.”

Today, PRI continues to increase engagement and support for the racing industry through new tools and initiatives specifically for the motorsports community. The annual PRI Show attracts attendees from all 50 states and all over the world, including professional race teams, retail shops, warehouse distributors, engine builders, fabricators, dealers, installers, jobbers, and media.

Ed Iskenderian

Iskenderian was a young man who raced his own cars just before he enlisted into the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his return, the hot rodding boom had hit, and Iskenderian—later nicknamed “Camfather”—had trouble buying racing-grind camshafts. Rather than wait five months for a camshaft, he decided, “I can make those,” and entered the racing cam business.

He set up a used grinding machine in the back room of a tool and die company owned by a friend, and that was the start of Iskenderian Racing Cams, popularly known as “Isky Cams,” one of the largest specialty cam grinders in America. The company developed the first high-density, chilled-iron lifters for Top Fuel dragsters, and was also responsible for the first anti-cam-walk kit for Chevy V8s and the first offset cam keys and bushings for adjusting cam timing.

Iskenderian was a part of the small group that created SEMA and was its first president. He was inducted into the SEMA Hall of Fame in 1978. Additionally, he is a member of Chevrolet’s Legends of Performance.

“The industry was going on before me, but there was no money in it, or it was so small,” said Iskenderian, who was born in 1901 and is now 103 years old. He added, “I was born just at the right time.”

Today, Isky Racing Cams in Gardena, Calif., where Iskenderian can still be found most days, consists of a four-building complex of over 75,000 sq. ft. on property a full city block long. Known for his precision, creativity, and passion, the contributions of the “Camfather” shaped drag racing and custom car culture, cementing his place as an automotive pioneer and icon.

PRI SHOW EXPANDS SIM RACING ARENA TO FOSTER MOTORSPORT GROWTH AND ESPORTS EXCELLENCE

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 5, 2024) — The PRI Show, a cornerstone event in the motorsports industry, is proud to announce a significant expansion of its SIM Racing Arena Presented by SRO Motorsports Group and the U.S. Army at the 2024 Show, held Dec. 12-14 at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium. This dynamic, 43,000 square foot hub featuring 85 booths will spotlight the burgeoning world of sim racing, offering attendees an immersive experience into the sport that bridges virtual and real-world motorsports.

Sim racing has experienced exponential growth, captivating enthusiasts worldwide with its accessibility and realism. It has become an essential gateway to motorsports, creating a virtual entry point to the thrill of racing and providing on-track drivers with an innovative platform to learn, train, and develop critical skills.

The racing simulator market is projected to grow from $500 million in 2024 to $1.1 billion by 2030 at a compound annual growth rate of 15.6%, according to a report by MarketsandMarkets. The growth is driven by advancements in hardware and software, as well as the increasing accessibility of racing simulators for both personal and professional use. Sim racing also plays a critical role in eSports, a sector that continues to expand with a global audience that’s expected to reach more than 640 million by 2025.

“Sim racing is revolutionizing how people connect with motorsports,” said Michael Good, President of PRI. “With our expanded SIM Racing Arena, we aim to inspire the next generation of racers and fans, creating opportunities for learning, competition, and collaboration across the industry.”

Highlights of the Expanded Sim Racing Arena

Cutting-Edge Simulators: Attendees will experience the latest in sim racing technology, including state-of-the-art rigs and peripherals that replicate the sensation of driving on world-class tracks.

Interactive Coaching Sessions: Professional drivers and coaches will demonstrate how sim racing can sharpen driving skills, enhance race strategy, and prepare for real-world competition.

eSports Racing Series: The area will feature live eSports racing events, showcasing top talent in head-to-head competitions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in open qualifiers and test their skills against seasoned racers.

Networking Opportunities: Industry leaders, sim racing developers, and professional racers will gather to discuss the future of sim racing and its integration into traditional motorsports.

This expansion underscores the PRI Show’s commitment to innovation and education within the motorsports community. By highlighting sim racing’s versatility as both an entertainment platform and a professional training tool, the Show continues to elevate its role as a leader in the industry.

Sim Racing Featured Exhibitors

This year’s expanded sim racing area will feature a diverse lineup of exhibitors showcasing how sim racing connects technology, skill-building, and community engagement. From global motorsports organizations to innovators in simulation equipment and partner organizations, these exhibitors highlight the versatility and appeal of sim racing in modern motorsports.

Renowned for sanctioning both on-track and eSports races, SRO Motorsports Group will showcase its commitment to merging the physical and virtual worlds of racing. Attendees can learn about their global racing series and eSports championships, bridging traditional motorsports with cutting-edge technology. “SRO is a motorsports ecosystem, and eSports is an important part of that environment,” said Greg Gill, President and CEO of SRO Motorsports. “PRI is unique because it allows us to showcase both on-track racing and eSports.” SRO has three days of activities planned for the PRI Show, including a pro playoff invitational, featuring 16 of the top sim drivers that will be broadcast live on SRO and PRI social media channels. SRO will endcap the weekend with partner KUNOS Simulazioni’s demo of its’ game Assetto Corsa Evo in North America for the first time.

A leader in sim racing equipment, Advanced SimRacing will highlight its innovative tools, including interconnected seats that provide motion feedback and haptics, designed to help drivers improve their skills on track with its biggest display ever at the PRI Show. From high-performance racing simulators featuring partners Juncos Hollinger IndyCar, Mercedes AMG and others, to personalized training aids, their offerings cater to both aspiring and professional racers. “The PRI Show is motorsports central,” said Marc-André Ladouceur, Chief Marketing Officer, Advanced SimRacing. “Exhibiting at the PRI Show helps us bridge the gap between sim and on-track motorsports and demonstrate sim’s value as a training tool.”

Podium 1 Racing was created by on-track racers looking to replicate the excitement of racing in a virtual environment. Through partnerships with multiple brands, Podium 1 creates a wide range of sim experiences for everyone from enthusiasts looking for another level of immersion to real-world professionals seeking an edge on track. “PRI is a huge motorsports event and motorsports is what we are,” said Podium 1 Co-Founder Steve Paladino. “PRI helps us engage with the motorsports world where drivers use sim to improve, looking for tools to get better and faster.” Podium 1 will bring multiple sim rigs to the PRI Show featuring from three-to-six degrees of freedom, including pitch, roll, heave, yaw surge and sway – even harnesses that pull on the drivers.

By bringing a sim racing team to the event, the U.S. Army demonstrates how a shared passion for motorsports and simulation technology helps it connect with the public. Their presence emphasizes the role of sim racing in fostering community, teamwork, and skill development while engaging with fans through interactive activities and competitions. Members of the U.S. Army eSports team, made up of full-time, active-duty soldiers will be on hand not only to compete against each other and PRI Show attendees, but to demonstrate that personal passions and military service can coexist. “It’s important for people to understand that your individual passions can continue and grow after joining the Army,” said Maj. Andy Ainslie. “Participating in the PRI Show helps America’s Army connect with America’s people through a shared passion for motorsports.”

The PRI Show attracts attendees from all 50 states and all over the world, including professional race teams, retail shops, warehouse distributors, engine builders, fabricators, dealers, installers, jobbers, and media.
