MILLER CLAIMS CITRUS COUNTY TOP PRIZE

September 26, 2026 - Daniel Miller captured the BG Products Southern Sprint Car Shootout Series 40-lap feature event Saturday night at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida. It was Miller’s first series win since a May 14, 2022 victory at Auburndale, Florida.

Miller got the jump at the drop of the green and led wire-to-wire to beat Sport Allen by 1.8 seconds at the checkered flag. Colton Bettis finished third followed by Larry Brazil Jr. and ageless Jim Childers rounding out the top five.

“Honestly we’re just clicking” Miller said when asked about his recent string of success. “We found what the car likes. We have a good engine package now. Everything is starting to come together. I feel pretty good right now. As long as we don’t have any mechanical failures, I think we have a car capable of winning some more races this year”.

As the laps began to tick down, Miller was anxious wondering if he would be challenged by Allen or Bettis in the later stages of the race.

“Citrus County has been a crimpled leg for us,” laughed Miller. “Every time we go there something happens. This is our first win in the sprint car at Citrus. Every lap I was afraid to see if somebody would stick a nose under me. But it worked out in the end” concluded Miller.

With Miller’s win, he gives car owner Chaz Hambling his first series win and first for the P1 Chassis. Hambling is developing the P1 Chassis for retail sale.

Current point leader Colton Bettis holds on to his points lead in his quest to win a third consecutive series title. The series will next be in action October 17 at Auburndale Speedway.
