Kinser Conquers
Quebec: Wins Inaugural World of Outlaws Event at
Autodrome Drummond
Drummondville, QC—July 27, 2010—Steve Kinser has an
amazing record over the years when he visits a track
for the first time with the World of Outlaws, having
scored well over 50 wins in debut events for the
series. The 20-time series champion added to that
remarkable list on Tuesday night as he was
victorious in the World of Outlaws first-ever race
at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec,
Canada before a standing room only crowd on a
picture perfect night.
Kinser started on the outside of the front row and
battled his teammate Donny Schatz in the early
going, taking the top spot from him on the fifth lap
as the pair exited turn four, using the low side of
the four-tenths-mile to surge ahead. He would
quickly pull away in lapped traffic. The native of
Bloomington, Indiana would pace the final 31
circuits of the 35-lap contest to score his sixth
A-Feature win of the season and the 558th
of his amazing career.
“It is special,” said Kinser in Victory Lane of
scoring another inaugural event win. “I thought we
may have been jinxed earlier when Johnny (Gibson)
said earlier how we have won a lot of races in our
first time at a track and I know we have, but you
sort of hate hearing it before you go out there. To
get another first win is great.”
Kinser was out front for three double file restarts
and chose the low line each and every time. He led
Donny Schatz into turns one and two on the first two
and had Paul McMahan lined up on his outside on the
final restart with six laps remaining. Kinser used
strong restarts each time to stay in front aboard
the Bass Pro Shops Maxim.
“The leader gets to set the pace with the line he
chooses, so I choked them down a bit and caught the
moisture getting off (turn) four,” explained the
Hall of Famer. “I didn’t want them to get up to
speed and get a run at me coming off four. They were
pretty slow starts, but that’s what you have to do
sometimes, pick a spot and do what you can.”
Schatz, who led the first four laps of the race on
Tuesday night, used a strong restart on the 22nd
lap to look high off turns one and two in his bid
for the lead. He used the same strategy on the
following lap, but could not quite make the pass.
The final restart of the night would come with six
laps remaining, after Schatz stopped on the track
with a mechanical problem while running second.
“I didn’t really know when to move back up and Donny
(Schatz) showed himself and I moved back up on top,”
Kinser noted. “Then I started running out of fuel on
the last five laps and didn’t think I was going to
make it to the checker on the last lap. It was
spitting and sputtering, but we made and that’s what
matters.”
Paul McMahan ended up second on Tuesday night to
earn his 10th Top-Five finish in the last
12 races, which is the most of any driver during
that span. The veteran started fourth in the Great
Clips Maxim and ran in the Top-Five all night,
getting around Chad Kemenah late in the going for
third, before moving into second when Schatz dropped
out.
“We’ve been real good,” said McMahan. “The car was
awesome fast all night long. It’s just great to be
back in Canada. The fans are great and it’s
unbelievable how packed the place is. Hopefully
we’ll be back many times down the road.”
Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point
leader finished third after lining up 11th
in the Budweiser Maxim to earn the KSE Racing
Products Hard Charger Award. The second generation
driver holds a 29-point advantage over Kinser as he
chases his first title.
“We were struggling with our car all night and
weren’t too bad in the feature,” said Saldana. “It’s
hard racing with these guys when you start in the 11th
spot and it’s tough to make it up. We had a good
solid car and just came home third.”
McMahan lined up on the outside of Kinser on the
final restart with six laps to go. He dove to the
low side of turns one and two to no avail as he kept
pace with Kinser on the restart. Coupled with
Saldana’s third-place finish it was the fourth time
this season that both Kasey Kahne Racing cars have
finished on the podium on the same night.
“My motor wasn’t taking off very good so I was
trying to get down to the bottom as fast as I
could,” shared McMahan. “I got down there and had
one shot at Steve (Kinser) and he was better than we
were. I was probably a third-place car until Donny
(Schatz) broke. We came home second and it was a
great night for Kasey Kahne Racing.”
Jason Meyers, who is currently third in points,
finished fourth in the GLR Investments KPC. Sam
Hafertepe Jr. used a strong restart following the
lap-29 caution to power his way from 10th
to fifth in the final six laps in the Lone Star
Speedway Maxim.
Chad Kemenah scored a sixth-place finish in the
Golden Flavor Sesame Sticks Maxim, with Kraig Kinser
seventh in the Quaker State Maxim. Lucas Wolfe was
eighth in the Allebach Racing Maxim with Danny
Lasoski ninth aboard the Casey’s General Stores
Maxim. Jason Sides rounded out the Top-10 in the
Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday,
July 30 and Saturday, July 31 at Ohsweken Speedway
in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada for a two-night event.

A Dazzling Debut:
Doug Esh Wins in First Trip to Lebanon Valley
Speedway
West Lebanon,
NY—July 25, 2010—Doug Esh had never seen Lebanon
Valley Speedway until Sunday afternoon when he
rolled through the pit gate, but that didn’t really
matter as he quickly got up to speed and put himself
in the right spots to win in his debut at the
blazing fast half-mile to score his first World of
Outlaws A-Feature win of the season and the second
of his career.
Esh started
on the pole and beat Jason Sides into turn one at
the drop of the green and would use strong restarts
a couple of times en route to the $10,000 triumph,
as he continues to fill in for the injured Jac
Haudenschild in the Owens-Corning Fiberglass XXX.
“This is unbelievable,” said Esh
in Victory Lane. “I have to thank Lon Carnahan for
giving me a shot. It’s a shame that Jac (Haudenschild)
got hurt. The Triple X car, I had never driven one
and this may be the best car I have ever sat in.
Leonard, Marie and Kyle worked hard all day and had
one of the fastest cars here tonight and I just had
to get the job done.”
Esh was out front with two laps to
go when the second and final caution flag of the
night flew, setting up a double file restart with
20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser
lining up alongside of him. Esh chose the low side
of the track and led the field into turns one and
two to hold onto the lead and was able to pull away
a little bit on the final lap of the 25-lap contest.
“He is ‘The King’ and I am the
little guys,” quipped the winner when asked about
having Kinser line up next to him on the double file
restart. “I figured if I could get a good run off of
(turn) four and get to the corner first I could get
it done. Jason Sides and I battled all night from
the front row. These motors take off great and never
stop.”
Esh chose the low side at the
half-mile on both double file restarts, at a track
where traditionally the pole position is on the
outside line and drivers always chose the high side
of the track on restarts when given the choice. The
first caution of the night flew on the 13th
lap, at which time Esh had opened a fairly sizable
lead over Jason Sides.
“Leonard (Lee) and I talked about
it and all night I started on the bottom and was
able to get the lead, so why change that,” explained
the native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. “The car felt
great down there and the motor runs great off the
corner. I didn’t want to change what was working.”
Steve Kinser
used strong double file restart on the 13th
lap to get by Jason Sides for second and looked to
the inside of Esh in turns one and two and again in
three and four to no avail on that same lap. On the
finale restart he lined up on the high side of the
half-mile next to Esh and wound up second in the
Bass Pro Shops Maxim to score his series leading 26th
Top-Five finish of the season.
“I wanted to be down in the
moisture, is where I wanted to be,” shared the
20-time series champion. “There was no way you were
going to beat anyone off the top off of (turn) four,
it was just too slick. Once you got speed up there
you were all right. I wanted to try and work the
bottom and think I could have. I didn’t need that
last yellow, if we would have raced in traffic that
was probably about the only shot we had.”
Donny Schatz
came from the ninth starting spot to finish third
aboard the Armor All/STP J&J to earn the KSE Racing
Products Hard Charger Award. He gained three spots
on the opening lap before Jason Meyers got back
around him for sixth on the second circuit. The pair
then battled for the next several laps. Schatz was
able to gain a spot on the lap-13 double file
restart on the way to his 21st Top-Five
finish of the season.
“We had a shot at it, but catching
him is one thing and passing him is a whole
different thing,” stated Schatz. “It was a good run
for us starting ninth, you can’t complain about
that. We passed all the guys on the bottom and would
have liked to have had a few more laps, but 25 laps
was enough and we got a pretty respectable finish.”
Jason Meyers
ended up fourth in the GLR Investments KPC, with
Craig Dollansky fifth in the Big Game Treestands
Maxim. Jason Sides was sixth in the Wetherington
Tractor Service Maxim. David Gravel matched the best
finish of his career with the World of Outlaws,
coming home seventh in the JaneDoeNoMore.org J&J.
Joey Saldana,
the current World of Outlaws point leader, finished
eighth in the Budweiser Maxim, with Danny Lasoski
ninth in the Casey’s General Stores JEI. Paul
McMahan rounded out the Top-10 in the Great Clips
Maxim.
The World of
Outlaws return to action on Tuesday, July 27 at
Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada
for an inaugural event.

Summer Slam: Greg
Hodnett Wins $20,000 Finale of Summer Nationals at
Williams Grove Speedway
Mechanicsburg, PA—July 24, 2010—Greg Hodnett fondly
recalled on Saturday night how the late Jim Nace
used to the say the bottom of the track was the
“Money Lane.” That proved to be true in the finale
of the Summer Nationals at the famed Williams Grove
Speedway, as Hodnett worked the low side of the
half-mile to perfection, to score the $20,000 win as
the “Month of Money” continues for the World of
Outlaws.
Hodnett dove
under Paul McMahan in turn two on the 26th
lap to take the top spot and would lead the final
five circuits of the 30-lapper to pick up his 10th
career World of Outlaws A-Feature win and his fourth
in the last six races for the series at Williams
Grove Speedway.
“It was a
really good race and an exciting race, at least from
my standpoint where I was,” said Hodnett in Victory
Lane. “The race track was in really good shape for
the second night of a two-night show. There were a
lot of slide jobs and I’m sure it was exciting for
the fans.”
Hodnett fell
all the way back to ninth early in the race after
starting third and used an open red flag on the
eighth lap to his advantage, as his crew made a
number of changes on the Macri Concrete Maxim. On
the ensuing restart, he began his march to the front
moving all the way up to sixth, as he charged past
Tyler Walker and Jason Meyers. He battled Craig
Dollansky for the fifth spot for a few laps, before
taking that position on lap-14. Joey Saldana, Jason
Sides and Sammy Swindell were next on his radar, as
he moved into second with 11 laps to go, setting his
sights on McMahan.
“We were all
balled up and couldn’t run the center, so we
actually freed it up and it got to rolling better,”
explained the winner of the open red flag. “On the
restart, I went to the bottom and I could see those
guys weren’t going anymore and I figured they were
losing their tires. I just kind if laid back and let
them come to me.”
The victory
for Hodnett extended the Pennsylvania Posse’s win
streak to eight at Williams Grove Speedway against
the World of Outlaws dating back to last season,
which is the longest win streak in the long, storied
rivalry.
“It means a
lot,” Hodnett admitted of winning for the PA Posse.
“All the guys here do a great job. It feels good to
be one of the guys that have helped hold them at
bay. Every week we come here is tough. I think that
competition level puts us in a good spot when the
Outlaws come to town. The Outlaws guys and the guys
that run here every week are so smart that they
figure things out quickly. Any little thing you can
find that works, you had better take advantage of,
because it won’t last long.”
Paul McMahan
started on the pole after winning the dash for the
second consecutive night and ran third in the early
going, as Sammy Swindell led and Jason Sides moved
into second on the opening lap. McMahan took the
lead from Swindell coming off turn four on the 16th
lap when the fourth and final caution of the night
flew, negating the pass. On the restart, McMahan
would lead the field down the front straightaway
into turn one. The veteran would wind up leading 10
laps aboard the Great Clips Maxim en route to a
runner-up finish.
“Second place
here at the Grove is nothing to hand your head
about,” stated McMahan. “To get beat by Greg Hodnett
and Lee Stauffer is nothing to bat an eye at. Those
guys are awesome. I’ve been the bridesmaid now three
times in the last month. My wife told me this
morning before I came out here that it was my turn
and that I was going to win a race. I kind of feel
like I let her down.”
Jason Sides
moved into second right at the start of the race and
looked low in turns three and four for the lead on
the opening circuit, but could not quite get enough
of a run on Swindell. Again on the second lap, Sides
would look low, this time in turns one and two to no
avail. He would run in the Top-Four all night on his
way to a third-place finish in the Wetherington
Tractor Service Maxim.
“They guys
never gave up and neither did I,” shared Sides. “We
had a crappy night last night (Friday) after we drew
a bad number and went out late. We had a really good
race track tonight and went out early and it does
show that an early draw here is important. Anytime
you can get a good draw is good.”
McMahan lined
up on the inside of the track twice on double file
restarts and on the outside twice as well. The
lap-16 restart saw him charge down the front
straightaway and into the lead. For McMahan, the
podium finish was his ninth Top-Five in the last 10
races, which leads all drivers over that span.
“My car was
working really good and I could put it anywhere on
the race track,” said McMahan. “Sammy (Swindell)
chose the top each time and was starting really
early and went way up high. I just got a good
restart off the bottom and a good run down the front
straightaway and cleared him in (turn) one and he
slide me and was able to keep running the same line
that I had been running and got back by him. We just
needed it to be 25 laps and not 30.”
Jason Sides
fell back to fifth on the seventh lap, before
working his way back around Craig Dollansky and Joey
Saldana on the way to his 15th Top-Five
finish of the season, which matched his best career
run at Williams Grove Speedway. Sides began the
night by turning the fastest lap in time trials of
the 46 cars that took to the track.
“Before that
last caution I think we could have won it,” Sides
said, “I got by on the bottom and were floating
there in the middle some and was catching Paul
(McMahan) and Sammy (Swindell). Traffic was going to
help I think and I wish we would have gotten to it
sooner.”
Sammy
Swindell, who led the first 15 laps on Saturday
night, ended up fourth in the Big Game Treestands
Maxim. Chad Layton came home fifth in the
Middleswarth Chips J&J.
Lance Dewease,
who won the opener of the Summer Nationals on Friday
night, came all the way from the 24th
starting spot to finish sixth in the Advance
Development Services Maxim to earn the KSE Racing
Products Hard Charger Award. Joey Saldana finished
seventh in the Budweiser Maxim to extend his lead in
the World of Outlaws championship standings. Tyler
Walker was eighth in the Hunter Truck Sales Maxim,
with Steve Kinser coming from 17th to
finish ninth in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim. Sam
Hafertepe Jr. rounded out the Top-10 in the Lone
Star Speedway Maxim.
The World of
Outlaws continue the second East Coast swing of the
season on Sunday, July 25 at Lebanon Valley Speedway
in New York.

Seventh Heaven: Lance
Dewease Wins Opener of Summer Nationals to Extend PA
Posse Win Streak to Seven at Williams Grove Speedway
& Earn Seventh World of Outlaws Win
Mechanicsburg, PA—July 23, 2010— Lance Dewease has
accomplished quite a bit in his illustrious career,
but one thing he had never done was to win two World
of Outlaws A-Feature events in one season, let alone
in one week. That is until Friday night at Williams
Grove Speedway in the opener of the Summer
Nationals, as he followed up his win at Lernerville
Speedway earlier this week with a victory at his
home track in front of a very large crowd at the
historic half-mile.
The victory
was the seventh A-Feature triumph for Dewease with
the World of Outlaws in his career and also extended
the Pennsylvania Posse’s win streak to seven against
the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove Speedway
dating back to last season.
“It means a
lot,” said Dewease in Victory Lane. “We always like
to defend our own turf here at ‘The Grove.’ These
guys are tough and they are the best in the
business. I was pretty happy with our race car the
other night at Lernerville (Speedway) and was happy
with it again tonight.”
The race
began with Chad Layton, who won against the World of
Outlaws back in May, leading at the start, though
the first caution of the night flew before that lap
was in the books, leading to a complete restart. On
the second start, Paul McMahan who lined up on the
pole led the field into turn one and opened a
comfortable lead in the early going.
The only red
flag of the night flew on the eighth circuit when
Steve Kinser who had just taken the second spot from
Chad Layton got into the turn four wall and upside
down. On the ensuing double file restart, McMahan
chose the high line, with Dewease sliding to the
lead in turn one, only to have the caution come out
before the lap was complete for a Sam Hafertepe Jr.
crash, leading to a single file restart, since a
complete lap was not in the books after the double
file restart.
On the
following single file restart, Dewease was all over
McMahan, nearly the taking the lead off turns three
and four on the ninth lap. Two laps later, Dewease
would get around McMahan in turns three and four and
quickly began to pull away.
The remainder
of the 25-lap contest went without a caution, with
Dewease leading the final 15 circuits, weaving his
way through lapped traffic to score his second World
of Outlaws win of the season.
“After that
red, I don’t know if my tires cool off or lost some
air, but I got really good there for a while,” he
explained. “We got the wing back under it, and when
we can get the wing back here, we usually get going
pretty good. After I got by him, I wasn’t sure where
to run and was driving across the middle of the race
so good, that I thought we’d be all right there and
we were.”
Dewease
started fifth in the main event aboard the Advanced
Development Services Maxim and got around Donny
Schatz in the early going for fourth, before moving
up to second after the lap-8 incident involving
Kinser and Layton. Dewease began the night with a 14th-place
qualifying effort, which put him on the pole of a
heat race, which he ran second in to earn a spot in
the dash. He came from eighth to fifth in the dash.
“Qualifying
is everything right now and the times are so close
that if you are even off just a hair, it shows,”
noted the veteran. “We’ve been fortunate enough to
put ourselves in positions to win races.”
Schatz ended
up second in the Armor All/STP J&J to earn his 20th
Top-Five finish of the season. He fell to fifth
early before gaining a couple of spots, before
getting around Paul McMahan for second on the 16th
lap of the 25-lapper. Schatz began the night by
turning the fastest lap in time trials of the 48
cars that were in attendance.
“It was a
good night,” shared Schatz. “We qualified good and
were good in the heat. We got better the longer the
feature went and that is a testament to my guys. We
felt like we had the car where we needed it to be
and you can’t ask for more than that. There was one
car a little better and my hat’s off to those guys.
We’re going in the right direction.”
Jason Meyers
worked his way from the 10th starting
spot to finish third in the GLR Investments KPC to
earn his 21st Top-Five finish of the
season. He used a very strong initial start of the
race to move up to sixth and found himself in fourth
just eight laps into the going. After battling Paul
McMahan for a number of laps, he got around him with
four to go, to earn the final spot on the podium.
“We’ll
definitely take it,” Meyers said. “We were trying to
move around on the race track tonight and we got
going through the middle pretty good, which I think
will help us tomorrow night. I’m happy with tonight,
especially after pulling a late pill draw (for
qualifying). I’m looking forward to coming back
tomorrow and hopefully getting a better pill draw
and seeing if we can better this a few spots.”
Schatz, who
has 15 career wins with the World of Outlaws at
Williams Grove Speedway, has his sights set on the
$20,000 top prize that awaits the winner on Saturday
night, as he has won the Summer Nationals two of the
last three years. The four-time and defending series
champion gained some ground as well on Friday night
in the series standings, as he finished ahead of
each of the three guys in front of him in points.
“Everything
we did tonight is big for tomorrow,” explained
Schatz. “That’s kind of the key when you come to
these two and three-day shows here at The Grove. We
have a pretty good qualifying package and have been
running pretty good and that’s pretty important. We
haven’t been on a track this slick all year and
we’re glad to be on something like this. We were a
little hesitant on how far to go. We’re glad to get
what we did and we’ll come back tomorrow.”
Meyers, who
is looking for his first career win at Williams
Grove, moved into the second spot in the World of
Outlaws standings after Steve Kinser ended up 23rd.
He trails Joey Saldana by 34 markers heading into
the finale of the Summer Nationals on Saturday
night. He has finished on the podium in three of his
last five starts at the half-mile.
“Every time
you come in here you learn something,” Meyers noted
of Williams Grove Speedway. “We seem to be getting
the hang of it here and hopefully we’ll be even
better tomorrow.”
Paul McMahan,
who led the first 10 laps of the race on Friday
night, ended up fourth in the Great Clips Maxim, to
earn his eighth Top-Five finish in the last nine
races.
Greg Hodnett
was fifth aboard the Macri Concrete Maxim, with Don
Kreitz Jr. sixth in the Sharman Builders Maxim.
Danny Dietrich came from 18th to finish
seventh in the Sandoes Fruit Market Maxim to earn
his best career World of Outlaws finish along with
the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award. Stevie
Smith was eighth aboard the Zemco Speed Equipment
Maxim. Alan Krimes was ninth in the Conestoga Valley
Garage Maxim, with Sammy Swindell rounding out the
Top-10 in the Big Game Treestands Maxim.
The World of
Outlaws wrap- up the Summer Nationals at the famed
Williams Grove Speedway on Saturday, July 24 with
$20,000 awaiting the winner.

Lance Dewease & Joey
Saldana Split Twin 30’s While Donny Schatz Claims
Overall Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Title
Sarver,
PA—July 20, 2010— Lance Dewease and Joey Saldana won
the battles on Tuesday night at Lernerville Speedway
in the Twin 30’s, while it was Donny Schatz, who won
the war, claiming the overall title in the Don
Martin Memorial Silver Cup before a very large crowd
at the historic high-banked four-tenths-mile. Schatz
won the Silver Cup in 2006 and 2007, making him just
the third driver to win the Silver Cup three times.
For Dewease,
the win marked his first at Lernerville Speedway,
while for Saldana it was his second career triumph
at the track. Dewease made his debut at Lernerville
in 1988 and had made nearly 30 starts at the track
entering the Silver Cup, with his previous best
finish being a runner-up performance with the World
of Outlaws in 2003. The $15,000 win made Dewease the
14th different driver to score a victory
in a main event with the World of Outlaws this
season and was the sixth of his career with the
series.
“I’m so happy
to finally win at Lernerville,” shared Dewease. “Don
Martin was one of the best promoter’s ever and to
win his race means a lot to me. We always enjoy
coming over and have had some good runs before and
some not so good. I’m just proud of my entire team.
This feels great.”
Saldana’s
win, also earned him $15,000, and was his series
leading 10th of the season and the 69th
of his career, putting him just one victory shy of
becoming the eighth driver all-time to win at least
70 A-Feature events.
“I’ll take
it,” said Saldana in Victory Lane. “We started
fourth and got the win. This is a track we have
usually struggled at and to have two decent runs was
pretty good. We should have had a Top-Five in the
first one and got spun out and came back to 11th.”
Schatz used a
runner-up finish in the first Twin-30 coupled with a
fourth-place effort in the finale, coming from the
13th starting spot to claim the overall
event title, which went to the driver that had the
best average finish in the two features. The
four-time and defending series champion was one of
just two drivers that finished in the Top-Five in
both events, with Jason Meyers being the other.
Schatz started 13th in the second race and charged
into the Top-Five by the 12th lap of the
30-lap contest. He earned the KSE Racing Products
Hard Charger Award in the finale.
“It’s always
special to win anything out here, whether it’s a
race or a title or an event title like this
tonight,” noted the North Dakota native. “It’s good
to know that we were in contention in both race and
able to run strong enough in them to pick this up.
We always enjoy coming to Lernerville and usually
run pretty decent here as well.”
Dewease
started fourth on Tuesday night in the first Twin-30
aboard the Advanced Development Services Maxim and
jumped into second on the opening lap, following a
yellow and a red flag that led to two complete
restarts to open the race. After pole sitter Dale
Blaney opened an early lead, Dewease tracked him
back down as the pair was in heavy lapped traffic on
the eighth circuit. He took the lead for the first
time on the 11th lap, diving under Blaney
coming off turn four. Blaney charged back by on the
very next lap on the high side of turn four to
reclaim the top spot.
On the 24th
lap Dewease again used the low side of turn four to
get by Blaney for the lead and ultimately the win.
Blaney would end up pulling off the track while
running second with two laps to go after running out
of fuel. Dewease began the night by turning the
quickest lap of the 38 cars that to the speedway.
“We could run
all over the place in the first feature,” explained
Dewease. “We started running the middle and
shortened up the track on Dale (Blaney) a bit and
was really able to get off (the corner). We passed
him three different times and that didn’t last
because the caution came out put him in front of me.
He’s a very good competitor and gets going good when
it gets slick. I’m just happy we had a good race car
all night.”
The final two
laps of the race saw a red flag and four cautions,
with two consecutive green flag laps needed by way
of rules to end the race, thus extending it to 32
circuits. Donny Schatz used a strong restart on the
third-to-last restart to get around Jason Sides for
second. He would finish in the runner-up position in
the Armor All/STP J&J.
Sides ended
up third in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim,
with Paul McMahan fourth in the Great Clips Maxim.
Jason Meyers came from 11th to finish
fifth in the GLR Investments KPC, with Craig
Dollansky sixth in the Big Game Treestands Maxim.
Sam Hafertepe Jr. was seventh in the Lone Star
Speedway Maxim, with Danny Lasoski eighth, piloting
the Casey’s General Stores JEI. Sammy Swindell was
ninth in the Big Game Treestands Maxim with Tim
Shaffer rounding out the Top-10 aboard the Kistler
Engines J&J.
The second
Twin-30 saw Tyler Walked lead the first five laps
from the drop of the green, before he spun on the
sixth lap. Brian Ellenberger restarted on the pole,
with Saldana diving under him entering turn one. The
current World of Outlaws point leader, who earned
the Goodyear Mid-season championship on Tuesday
night, would lead the remainder of the 30-lapper. He
chose the high side each and every time on the four
double file restarts that ensued while he was out
front in the Budweiser Maxim.
“We tightened
the car up quite a bit from the first one and were
still quite a bit loose,” Saldana said after winning
the finale. “We just worked on the car and got a
good result. The crew worked hard as always.”
Craig
Dollansky came home second in the finale, with
Meyers third, Schatz fourth and McMahan fifth. Jason
Sides was sixth with Sammy Swindell one spot behind
him. Sam Hafertepe Jr. was eighth in the second
Twin-30 to score his second Top-10 finish of the
night, with Dewease ninth and Kraig Kinser rounding
out the Top-10 in the Quaker State Maxim.
The World of
Outlaws return to action on Friday, July 23 and
Saturday, July 24 at Williams Grove Speedway in
Pennsylvania for the Summer Nationals, which will
pay $20,000 to win the finale.
